Children rely on adults to help them with many things. Their innocent trusting nature is sweet, but parents also need to teach children to be safe. Good family rules to follow include: make sure a parent knows where you are at all times and don’t reveal personal information to strangers.
HOME ALONE SAFETY

If you determine that your child is responsible enough to be home alone after school, brief them on these rules:
1. Have an emergency plan
2. Always check in
3. Is your child allowed to leave the house?
4. Are they allowed to use the phone?
FIRE SAFETY

Did you know that if a fire starts in your home you may have as little as two minutes to escape? Early warning from a working smoke alarm plus a fire escape plan that has been practiced can save lives. Precautions in the home and teaching how to escape a fire can help.
WEATHER RELATED SAFETY​

Every Region suffers from some sort of Weather Related Emergencies. Making an Emergency Plan for your Family to follow can be invaluable. Teaching your children how to react to an Emergency if they are at home or away from home can mean the difference between life and death.
Let's Chat is a board game that encourages the parent to discuss emergency situations with their children in a fun, friendly environment, from a very young age so that as they grow older you have built a very solid foundation of information as to how to be safe in the unique set of circumstances that your child faces on a daily basis. You also have the opportunity to develop an environment where your child feels comfortable in "chatting" with you about everything that they face in these impressionable years. Because you have been playing "Let's Chat" with your children for years, your child will realize that talking with their parent about these subjects is acceptable and non-threatening. It can even be FUN!

Let's Chat is unique in the fact that it literally grows up with your child. When your child is younger you are creating an an open communication atmosphere approaching serious issues in a delicate manner and as they get older you are able to expand upon the serious issues with age appropriate conversations. Certainly your conversation with a 5 year old will be different than with a 10 year old. But all the while, you are building a knowledge bank of information on serious issues your child may have to face.

Because every family has different dynamics, Let's Chat gives you the opportunity to discuss these issues in a way that is best suited for your individual family. While school may address these issues, they are addressed in such a generic way that it may not be suitable for your family with it's unique set of circumstances.

Open communication between a parent and child can be the most effective way of shaping your child's growth and future. But in many cases parents do not know how to talk with their child about such important topics without making it sound scary or even worse, a lecture. Let's Chat takes away the awkwardness of these subjects and puts them in a very "matter of fact" way. And because your child will love playing the "Let's Chat" board game with you, you have the opportunity to reinforce what you have taught them.

Todays environment that our children live in is very different, in many cases, as to the environment we lived in. No longer is addressing serious issues with your children in their teen years acceptable. Data also shows that children learn from repetition, and in an emergency situation you want your child to know right away, without hesitation, how to react to a serious issue. Hoping that your child will know how to react is not good enough.
